So as we all hear about global warming it makes me wonder how much power does my laptop actually need to work. I'm talking about external power during normal office work and when playing some high end 3d computer games. How does it compare to desktops. So if any of you has a little knowledge on that please let me know :) I have 5920g 7100 (8600gt ddr2).
    Many thanks in advance :)

check your AC power adapter. Mine is rated for around 65w, which is pretty close to what I have measured it using from the AC outlet.
In comparison to desktops, it should be at least half. Given the laptop also includes the LCD screen in it's power consumption whereas desktops when measured, normally do not include the monitor in their power consumption calculations.
