My daughter's Acer Travelmate (2340) has been problematic for the past six months reference the modem, wireless. It is under a third party 3 year warranty which she has decided to use. Before doing so, she would like to know how to backup the laptop so that all drivers etc are available. The laptop purchased from SamsClub did not come with any cd's. How should she backup the laptop before shipping it off to AL?
I went to the Acer webstie and was a bit taken aback as there is no service center within the USA. It always refers you to an offshore location. If this isn't a glitch, why would Acer be sold within the USA if it can't access genuine Acer service here?

the easiest thing to do would be to buy a external, USB-connected HDD (with at least the capacity of the laptop's internal HDD) and then copy/ghost/image the internal HDD to the external drive. a variety of programs exist for this purpose, ranging from Norton Ghost (if you're looking for a professional retail program) to DriveImage XML (if freeware is more your thing).
