That sounds like your USB ports may be losing power. Do you have any other USB devices plugged in? Do they ever turn off without warning?

You might try this. Unplug all USB devices. Go to your Device Manager, by right clicking on My Computer and choosing Manage, then Device Manager on the left hand side. In the right hand pane of that window, scroll to the bottom of the list of devices and find Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Click the plus sign beside it and uninstall everything listed there. Reboot the computer and let Windows reinstall all the USB hubs and controllers. This may take a couple of minutes after Windows loads. Let it finish completely, and do reboot again if it asks to do so. Once that's done, plug the keyboard back in and see if the problem persists as before. If this issue only happens with the one keyboard, it may be related just to that keyboard. If every USB device you plug in periodically does this, there could be a Windows problem behind or it could be a hardware problem with the USB ports.
