I'm travelling in China and all the hotels I'm staying at have broadband in the rooms via direct cable connection. Most have connected to their networks right off, but a couple have failed with my laptop (and not others') and I've needed to have someone get me the IP/DNS addresses so I could connect manually. I'm wondering why this might be happening. Previously, I had a thread about how in the U.S. everytime I moved locations with wireless there'd be a problem getting connected, but this one is broadband. Any ideas? Thanks,
Acer Aspire One 722
Win 7x64
Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
Update: I just updated Atheros to the latest version on the Acer support site (9.2.0.412 Win7x64), but the problem remains.

I doubt you did an update. Judging by a version number you've installed an Atheros Wi-Fi driver.
Check this one out for an Ethernet. -
I think you're right in terms of the update, but which one were you referring to ("this one")? The site I pulled the update from is Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Netbook / Aspire One / AO722. Device Mgr shows the driver I have is current and the Acer site suggests there is only one version out.

Click on words "this one" in my previous post it's a link to a new version of the driver.
Acer never updates drivers anyway.
BTW I don't think driver update will help but that's something to start with. -
No, the network problem is still there but that's a good site for drivers. Thanks.
