Please use proper english(full, no shortcut too much).
I think the problems is not on the sound card.
I am 6920G user too. Many of us here with 6920G experienced the same problem.

    Non-causes of the problem:
    CPU overheat is incorrect.
    GPU overheat is incorrect.
    Sound function?? Incorrect.
    Keyboard? Mouse? Incorrect.
    HDD? Incorrect.

    Causes of the problem:
Basically, it is CPU related but not OVERHEAT!
The CPU runs while gaming and reached certain time, it would start to throttle(slowdown/downclock itself to prevent overheat).
    So, the gameplay is doomed.
Why it wants to throttle? Really overheat? The answer is NO!
The CPU think itself overheat and being to throttle. CPU acts clever but actually it is stupid. If you want some logically talks, it had to do with CPU coding(000x1121 01x21x20x12 12x12 0x2 12x1x0x0x21x00 this kind of stuffs).
The codes set it to be throttling itself at certain time and temperature.
In short, CPU thinks itself being clever and throttle on its own without OUR permission.

Why I could tell this? I checked the Processor/CPU(using EVEREST,CPUID, HWmonitor, Realtemp, CrystalCPUID), it support up to 100-105C(TJMax) but it throttle at about 50-55C(this is maximum temperature that this CPU goes when playing CPU intensive game and this CPU seldomly or hardly runs more than 60C). Basically, this CPU won't reach 100++C unless you go to a dessert and have a sun shin on it.
In short again, 50-55C is a damn cool temperature for a CPU. Cheer.

    Solution:
You need to download RightMark Clock (RMClock).
It is very hard to explain it all over again.
I will provide the useful link for you to read yourself.
So far, this is the BEST solution and workable for almost everyone.

Official download link and guide for RMClock, http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml#rmclock

thanx a lot and sorry for the language....
my laptop has a t5900 2.2ghz processor....will it be the same reason on this?

so that means i have to run this program everytime i want to play the game and it starts downclocking?that'll be a problem if i want to play online games
and also how do you explain the fact that when i disable sounds for the game it works fine....

also even if this is not a soundcard problem i think my computer has a soundcard problem...because sometimes media player just refuses to play songs..says there is some error....and at the same time even vlc doesnt play....

so does this mean it was a big mistake buying the 6920g?

The reason why Windows Media Player refuses to play a song sometimes is because you have too many sound applications running. I have same "problem" when I have a game open (When sound is turned on), and Skype and Messenger + YouTube. The soundcard can't handle that much sound :)

Hahahaha! You only need to "do it" once for a game when the game is still ON(don't off it).
If you don't exit the game, you don't need to do that again because the CPU would throttle after a few minutes. Just alt tab and "do it", then go back to your game. Your CPU won't slowdown anymore as long as you don't exit the game.

Anyway, RMClock got its super nice usage. You read on those guides and you can have a cooler system without having any cooler(hardware).

    REGRET? Me too.

We have absolutely no idea why on earth the CPU throttles like this - all we have are ways to combat it. We're dealing with symptoms, but never the real problem.
I seriously need to get on that letter to Acer Canada management about this.

    Market Strategic Perhaps?
    I am not sure. LOL.
But almost every owner of 6920G with Windows Vista OS and Windows 7 OS(windows 7 I am not 100% sure) would have same downclocking/CPU slowdown issues.
I heard that Windows XP OS would fix this problem.

Anyway, I know this CPU downclocking is due to BIOS setting.
ACER locked them! Damn! Even RMclock can't change it! If I could change the TM1 and the EIST in the BIOS setting, the problem would solve easily.

Anyone here wants complain to ACER? Force them to release a BIOS that disable TM1(currently, acer set 55C then would throttle) or highered up TM1(maybe 80C so it won't throttle at 55C which is a damn cool temperature for a CPU during gaming).
As for the EIST, if acer manage to fix it using TM1, EIST is not necessary to turn off.

This is not a problem with the processor - it's a problem with the computer's ACPI/BIOS settings. Other computers with this CPU and Vista would not be having this exact issue.

Acer is the one who responsible for this. WHY THE HELL ACER LOCK THE EIST AND TM1 and TM2 which control the thermal throttle of AS6920G's processor.

Yea. However, that wasn't right. He admitted now he still using RMclock "disable/enable" trick for the downclocking/throttle. I doubt that time he haven't test it completely and give such statement.

For your info, RMClock could not change the throttle setting(I even try lock throttle setting and disable thermal protection but still same, it throttles) on Acer 6920G currently. This is due to the BIOS has been locked. RMclock could not access the BIOS setting. However, RMclock did show it changes the setting but this is not true.

I hope so. But currently you can use RMclock to handle it 1st. I am not sure how long does ACER takes to create a BIOS that could fix this SH!T.

I get a weird distortion noise from the Tuba every now and again, but closing and re-opening the programs (Audacity, WMP, Firefox) tends to fix that.

Not only the 6920G, the 8920G has the same problem. My idea is the whole Gemstone Blue family suffers from this crap...

honestly, i think the sound card just acts weird sometimes... changing the type of output ie. putting it from 44100 to 48000Hz also solves the problem with the tuba acting up... but there was this once when the sound just went all crazy and everything started popping (i honestly thought that my brand new headset was broken) but after changing some settings, the sound went back to normal... (i have a 6920G btw)

and are there any xp drivers for xp out there which support the tuba?
