Did you save a copy of the original BIOS?
    Huh well did you?
Really who in their right mind wants MCE anyway ... it's pure tat!

Can't see any issues with a Vista BIOS with XP OS TBH then I'm no Guru :(
Please speak up folks if there are indeed reasons. I'd be interested to know.

Normally I would say that a bios does not stop you from installing any particular OS however acer may have done something else here so if you want back the XP bios along with the XP drivers for your notebook you can find them here

i suggest you phone acer and order set disk unless you have usb floppy drive to make sata driver disk for xp

    that you use during setup

or you need to make cd with you laptop sata control drivers intregrated

also do have any options in bios for change sata controler mode? you might be put stander mode such as ide so windows will pick up you disk and install if

if not the two options above are you choicse

you will need copy them all to floppy
dur xp setup it was say push f6 for scsi driver

then you need use floppy disk to add scsi drivers /sata controler driver

then it will see you drive and you can install xp
