I got two problems I can't quite fix with my 1681.
First, the touchpad is not working. It used to work just fine, and it IS enabled, it just wont work. I have been using several wireless mice with it.
The second problem is my wireless connection. I can connect to all networks around me, but not my own for some reason. One of my guesses is that the there is interference. We have many wireless devices at our place. I also suspect that the wireless might have interferece with either bluetooth or the touchpad, but I don't know how. And no, I don't have a bluetooth device on the computer.
any ideas?

1. The mouse problem could be related to your wireless mouse being connected. I've seen systems switch their config to the added mouse and not allow them to work together. Pulling the wireless mouse from the system, will still leave it in a state where the system thinks the wireless mouse is connected. You can try reinstalling the Touchpad drivers or selecting the Touchpad as your pointing device.
2. Interference can cause problems connecting to your router. Do you ever get any type of connection at home? If not, it's possible it's just not setup correctly. If you're connecting to wireless connections at "hotspots" like the airport or coffee shops/libraries, etc..., then it's possible those sites don't have any encryption enabled. This will allow anyone to connect. Most home networks may have WEP or WPA encryption enabled, so you also have to enable and add the same encryption key to your notebook. If you're not familiar on how to setup a wireless network with encryption, checkout this link, it may help.

Give these 2 things a try and see if it helps. Good luck!

I finally connected to my own wireless...it's just a little unstable, sometimes it won't connect. But I don't think it's a problem with the laptop as it picks up all other wireless networks and works just fine.
As for the touchpad, still no sign of life if though it's enabled...anyone else with this problem? -
isnt there a setting in the bios to turn off the touchpad? could give that a shot. have you reinstalled the drivers and junk that comes with it? its possible that your wireless mouse software interfered with the touchpad software.
