I have an Acer 3810TZ with Windows 7 Premium, and I have bought a Bluetooth dongle to use with it. The dongle came without any software, but this has been no problem in my Windows XP machines: They recognize it instantly and it connects fine to my Bluetooth devices.

However, while Windows 7 in my 3810TZ recognizes the dongle equally well and shows the icon in the taskbar, it is absolutely impossible to see my bluetooth devices, eg my cellphone. It keeps scanning and finds nothing. Also, when I right-click the Bluetooth icon and select "Open Settings", nothing happens. Since that same dongle works very well with my other machines, I guess it's a driver issue. Is there any other driver I could try to make it work ?

Windows 7 recognizes my dongle as "CSR Bluetooth Radio"

Thanks. Actually it was rather simple. And stupid. The Bluetooth Service was stopped and set to manual, which as I found out is often the default in Windows 7 installations (as opposed to XP). Now, why would an operating system recognize and install a bluetooth dongle and try to find devices for ages without informing the user that the damn service hasn't started... is beyond my logic :D
