    Hi sir/madam,

I own a Aspire 5050-3371 with Vista Home Basic, and I'm having trouble using the e-recovery program. I try installing a Xp on my free partition which is drive D after finishing, Vista OS cannot be boot, after that i learned that in order to have 2 OS specifically Xp and Vista, you should have a software for XP so you can load Vista. so i installed another vista on that partition and my old vista appeared again. after i was able to load my old vista, I formatted drive D. and having no problem at all. but i found out that erecovery doesn't work anymore as well as eLock management. they are disabled from the logo with the green e, i tried reinstalling it but still the same. alt+F10 don't work too. I just learned that i should have burn a recovery disk for the first time i used it but its too late now. I'm worried that in future, I might need to use recovery disk if i ever encounter problem with my OS. I heard that acer sends recovery disk, but with prize. how can i make the erecovery work again? I saw the PQService partition which is said that contain the files for recovery, it is still intact. It just can't be access. i read a procedure that can make the PQService partition active and will recover the alt+F10, but the software isn't working for vista.
    Help. :(

    Sorry for the long post.

oh and addition to those that might help. when i try to use the window mobility center and access the user guides and drivers, a .net framework error appears. "failed to connect to IPC port. the file cannot be found" sort of message. and says that i should enable the JIT debugging which i have no idea how.

but when i go to Program files, i can access it and install the drivers and utilities.
    y?

KIRIAKOST posted a good guide to making recovery disks,,

but you will need the eRecovery software (and the EMPOWERING TECH FRAMEWORK along with MS .NET upgrades to be able to use the software)

i'll try to find the software for you later tonight...
PM me to remind me if you still need it later tonight
