    Hi,
I'm not sure this thread is exactly for here, but i'm having problems with reinstalling my OS.
I'm using Acer TravelMate 4060.I know that the prosedure is to press Alt+F10 when the Acer screen appears.Well,i tryed it,but it didn't work.Than I entered in Windows and i tried to start eRecovery.Well i didn't manage. Now everytime i'm turning off the computer i'm recieving the following message:"eRecovery is not responding" and proposition to end the program now.
That problem occured few weeks ago, when i erased all the information on m "D:" drive and i installed Linux on it.Before that i moved a lot of files on my C: drive so now it's a mess and it's working very slow. That's why i decided to format & reinstall windows, but i didn't manage. Can you please tell me what to do?Thanks a lot.

If you want Acer specific help, you should ask this question on the Acer board. If you want a general answer, then get yourself an operating system installation disk and reinstall Windows. If you don't have one, contact Acer and request one.

Welcome to the forums but this belongs in the acer forums... ;)

Anyway I suspect the reason why alt+f10 isn't working for you to do a recovery is because you installed linux. Linux's grub bootloader will overwrite window's bootloader. This will also remove acer's special MBR that allows alt+f10 to work, so I suspect from what you have described that your MBR is currently messed up. You will need to use the command prompt program Fdisk to fix your MBR. You can do this by creating a boot CD and then once it boots you to DOS run fdisk and then the fixMBR command (warning doing this can and probably will make you lose data on your drive, so back it up on another hard drive first).

I suppose there maybe a better and easier way to restore your MBR(other than using FDisk) so perhaps someone can make a suggestion here.

If you want to use linux in the future I would suggest you use a boot manager which will stop any interference to your MBR, atleast this has worked for me in the past.
