Using Windows xp on an acer laptop, 2 GB Ram.

When I burn a data CD it burns successfully, when I try to read in same laptop, it reads. But when I try to read in other desktop computer while trying to open the CD drive it gives a message “Please insert the CD into D Drive”

I copied the same data into flash memory stick and copied it to another desktop computer and burned it in to a CD then try to open the files it opens but in the same desktop computer when I insert the same CD into other CD Drive which is read only drive and try to open it then same message “Please insert the CD into Drive D:”

I cant understand what it could be, any help please.

have you verified that this cd drive you keep trying is actually working properly? have you tried other retail CD's?

what software are you burning the CDs with...

make sure to CLOSE SESSION when burning CDs, some cd players cannot read burned CDs unless the session is closed.

    just a thought

Yes I have tried other brand CD also, I used nero burn but now I am trying with windows xp CD copy wizard,

Now I am using another brand of CD. I copied using other computer and that reads in my laptop. I try to burn through Windows Copy Wizard in my laptop it seems this is not recognizing the cd it says insert a new recordable CD into drive.

But when I copy using nero burning in my laptop it copies the data and reads in my laptop but other computer when I try to open the recorded cd it asks to insert disk in to drive:

I found the solution for now, I found this articals on some other discussion forum "all the programs inserting SCSI filter drivers into storage stack make other applications work completely unreliable... Try using Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Pro or StarBurn. They all are layered at the top of the SPTD so they are NOT affected with the other co-installed burning software :)"

I tried Starburn and that works fine. But is there any way I can put the SCSI of nero burn into upper layer. Coz I still wnat to use nero burn, at the moment I have three burning software in my computer. Express Burn, Nero Burn and Star Burn. Star Burn is working fine.
