    Hi ty403
Also have a similar problem and have tried changing cpu usage on the acer power usage thing, didnt work for me!!
When I first bought the 5100 and did the install (not vista as it came with xp media) the sound was ok.
Since then (only 2 weeks) auto update has been running and now I notice that if I recieve an email the sound sort of repeats and echoes. also on windows startup the sound is stuttery and echoes again.
The system also seems much slower and hangs - with the egg timer there.
I wonder if all this is caused by some autoupdate.
First I thought the slowness was with norton av but uninstalled that and put avg on - no difference.
Has anyone put or bought the 5100 with vista on? and if so do these problems go away.
If all else fails and cant get an answer I will format and put the backup disc back on and turn off autoupdate to see if it cures it.
Another thought is, maybe wrong, the acer powering technology software maybe at fault - has anyone disabled this and did it take the problem away??
Thanks in advance - please feel free to email direct.
