    Hi,

I am having a very strange problem with a 2 month old Acer Aspire 1362 WLMi. Every so often, when i go to switch the machine on, the power on indicator comes on, the DVD RW spins a bit, and the HD sounds like it's moving around, but the system doesn't boot [?], and the fan doesn't come on[?]. It takes a few closed lids, on/off/on/off, battery offs, mains on etc. before the system actually starts and i can use it.[ :(]

Has anybody got any idea what the hell it could be? It's really getting bugging now, cos the last time it happened I was trying to give a powerpoint presentation to 200 students and teh thing just wouldn't get going.

Yes, the battery was fully charged, yes the same thing happens when mains is attached, and no there doesn't seem to be any reoccuring factor that brings it on. It's been well looked after, never dropped, kept very dry and not moved about too often. HELP!!!!

2 months old? It has to be under warranty still and you should certainly give Acer support a call and have them take it in. This sounds like it could be a bad control between the motherboard and hard drive or a whole host of other things, whatever it is it's serious and needs to be fixed as you're better off with a pencil and paper than trying to use a notebook that does nothing but waste time.
