So I can configure my Aspire 3023 more freely I have decided to format my HD and install a copy of XP Pro.

Everything has installed fine with the exception of one device in the Device Manager which is showing as an unknown PCI Device?

From the Acer System CD I have installed the following:

    VGA driver
    Audio driver
    TouchPad driver
    Modem driver
    802.11 g driver
    802.11 abg driver
    Lan driver
    Card reader driver

I did not install the CPU driver as this seems to only be for an Athlon 64 and I also did not install the BlueTooth driver as I dont have a bluetooth device installed.

All devices seem to be working ok except the SD card reader. I have 3 SD cards I have tried, one works whilst the other two cause the notebook to lockup.

I have tested all 3 cards in another PC and here they work perfectly so at a guess I'm thinking maybe I'm missing some sort of card reader driver?

But im not really sure, could just be a coincidence?

Really stuck now! So help would be much appreciated!!

    One more thing!

Should I not be installing any sort of motherboard/chipset drivers?

There are none on the disc
