I bought an ACER Aspire 7720G Intel Core 2 Duo with Vista SP1 3 weeks ago and have now some problems with my WLan and with booting after sleep. WLan only works when I restart the computer after swiching on the WLan connection either by pressing the WLan button or by activating the connection in "networks and sharing center" (at least it works then, but it's annoying to restart the computer all the time). Since I use WLan at home I get a message while booting the system (Broadcom UNDI PXE.... Client... MAC ADDR:... GUID... DHCP ...not found..blabla). I use a Lan connection at work and here I have no problems yet. My second problem is that my computer really stays asleep after I woke it up from sleep or just if I would not use it some minutes. It does not show any system related information anymore and I can only restart it again. I have looked up my BIOS and it is Version 1.44 (read the thread about the BIOS problems), so I don't know now what to do. Could someone please help me? Thanks, Lena

I have a 7720-6536 that I purchased from Newegg about a month ago. I've noticed that I lose the wireless if I leave it unattended for a while and only a reboot will bring it back. I think this only happens when I leave the laptop open long enough for it to go to sleep. If I close the lid when I'm away and reopen it to log on, I don't think I have the same problem. I'll have to pay more attention to the problem next time it occurs. I don't think the Broadcom message has anything to do with your wireless problem as I think that is for your wired connection.

I have not had the same problem with sleep mode that you mention though. I also have bios v1.44.

Hi, this sounds like another problem... I didn't have it yet. I realized, that I do not have the problem with the sllep mode, when I close the lid. I will change the settings for sleep (time, etc.) maybe it'll help.

I found a setting in the device manager for the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG network connection. Go to the properties for this device and click on the Power Management tab. Uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" selection. That may fix one of your problems.
