    Hello,

This problem has happened from factory and is really starting to get annoying.

The Wifi... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Other computers will connect to a specific signal and work, my computer will connect, then say 'connected', but with 'No internet access'.

My virus scanner is McAfee and I have trailed disabling it and seeing if that changes anything but no.

So right now I can access the net via a LAN cable, but not the wifi, yet this morning it was working fine.

I have a funny feeling the in-built security is way too high strung??

Also... I have DVD's that were made on my Win XP system (such as picture discs) and they cannot be read on my Win 7 Machine. (Yet work fine on Vista).

I'm getting to the stage where I'm about to take my laptop to Acer to tell me what is going on. My 5 year old XP system never had these sort of issues and I'm amazed that these problems persist on my new system.

Any help / advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Jason.

    Lotsof questions!
The first thing to do is ensure you are using the most up to date drivers for the wireless card. windows update sometimes provides these but a check onthe acer support pages for your laptop is also useful. Once you are sorted there go into device manager, open the wireless card tabs and ensure that 'allow to turn off to save power' is un ticked and make sure that the performance options if any are set to maximum performance

The virus scanner should not change it's mind about the card/connection unless it detects some form of attack coming via it. Check your virus checker/internet security logs for any clues.

Does the Windows 7 laptop see the files on the disk but not know what to do with them . . or not see the disk. Many current media players do not bother with older standards like picture CD etc.

Acer will tell you to restore the machine to factory condition (Alt- F10 at boot-time acer logo) and retest the wireless card without your own additional files, phoots software etc which will be lost. Ensure you backup everything if you try this as much or all your stuff on the c drive is going to be lost !

If it does not work properly in that condition they will fix it. .
