I bought an el-cheapo firewire PCMCIA card. It came with an unlabelled cd with the driver, and the box indicates it is compatible with XP (but makes no mention at all about Vista - must be old stock).

I have installed the driver, but my laptop doesn't locate my camcorder.

Is it likely to be a Vista not compatible with the driver problem? If so, any ideas where I can get a driver that is compatible with Vista?

    Thanks

i would contact the place of purchase to try to get details about who manufactured it...

some XP drivers work fine in VISTA, while some XP drivers will totally trash your entire VISTA HDD data when they fail.....

backup you important data before attempting to load the XP drivers into VISTA!!! because you may be doing a FACTORY RESTORE CD sooner than you ever intended!
