    Hi.

I have recently purchased an acer 8930. To be honest the display is pretty rubbish. Alot of backlight streaks.
I have tried to alter the display settings in the nvidia control panel but it won't let me do this. I can slide the bars up and down the % line but nothing on the display changes.
I phoned acer support but they weren't aware of this problem and the guy thought that acer have locked this option.

I was wondering if this is
    A. A fault with my laptop
    B. Acer doesn't allow this
    C. Can do it on the 8920g but not the 8930

    Thanks for any info

    Thanks for the reply.

Are you able to change the display settings in the nvidia control panel?

Prior to owning a 8930 I did own a 8920g and the display was nice so didn't try to change the settings.

Can anyone please tell me if you can change in your display settings in the nvidia control panel on either the 8920g or 8930?

    Thanks

Regardless of the model you own, the Nvidia control panel should allow you to change display settings.

What GPU is in the notebook if you don't mind me asking?
You could also try several other solutions such as installing the latest (or previous version of drivers for your gpu), re-install the OS on your own (without additional bloatware).

It's also possible your gpu is messed up ... but I'd sooner try other solutions like older/newer drivers and a clean re-install of the OS before we jump to conclusions.

And while unlikely ... do check your system for spyware or viruses just in case.
