I'm about to purchase the Acer TravelMate 4502LMi. It seems pretty cool and I like that fact that it comes without all that preloaded junk and the price is definitely appealing. However, I keep hearing about how it comes partitioned 50/50. Can someone keep me step by step instructions as to how to reformat the harddrive so that I can use all of the 80GB on one drive? Feel free to also email me at [email protected] and at [email protected] Thanks for the help in advance

I don't think it's a perfect 50/50 split. I believe it's split into 2 partitions. 1 partition is where the Recovery files are located and the other is for your OS. You can use a program like Partition Magic to dynamically resize your partition w/o losing any data. If you already have the recovery files on CD (provided by Acer), then I don't see why you'd need this partition, IMHO.

I don't know if you can download Partition Magic, but you can check, I think it's on the Symantec website (I think they bought PowerQuest). If not, you're gonna have to buy it or check to see if there's some other shareware/freeware programs available that is free to use.
