Is the 3003 a relatively good computer? I found it at Circut City for $499 and was wondering if this was a good deal or not? I am looking for a relatively fast computer that can travel very well, and can handle a game or two, but will mainly be used for papers and what not. Thanks, Matt

It is a middleweight. If I remember correctly it has a four cell battery so the battery life isn't going to be really good. It has an integrated GPU, so it is not going to play the latest and greatest games. The thing that is going to kill performance on is the slow hard drive. You could upgrade that yourself. Depending on the size of the hard drive you get, it will probably run you between $65-100. For the price it is a good little machine, but it does have limitations. Check out the deals section on our front page. You might find something that better suits you. Good Luck.

Yep, I agree with zazonz, check the thread here on the Aspire 3003wlci, which is just the widescreen version of the 3003lci. It is just a basic laptop & is probably good only for typing papers & surfing the web. The SiS Mirage 2 is not really meant for gaming, but it will play older games(2 -3 years old) pretty well. Also dont expect stellar battery life with the standard battery, it lasts around 45min - 1hr max. Acer does offer an extended battery(8 cell) which is supposed to last 2.5hrs+. But it going to cost about ~$140 or so more.

It is a relatively good computer for that price, but its shortcomings are the battery life(with the standard battery) & the poor graphics card.
