Hopefully, If all goes well, I'll have a nice new AS1691WLMI in a couple of weeks.

I have a few questions about this laptop:

As i'm thinking of upgrading from 512mb to 1.25 gigs of memory, what memory does the AS1691WLMI come with? More specifically, is it DDR/DDR2 PC3200 or less? If its DDR, is it worth getting a 1gig DDR2 PC3200 module and taking out that 256mb that i'd otherwise leave in?

What rpm speed is the hard drive and who is it made by/model?
The AS1691WLMI i'm hopefully getting has a 80 gb hard drive.

    Thanks
    Mac

If your getting the north american version of this note book it supports dual channel memory and is ddr2 333, it's best to get 2 matching 1gb or 2 matching 512 MB sticks. Personally if you want the upgrade get the 1694wlmi. It's worth every penny more.

It is the UK 1691 model, mine will feature a x700 128mb card, so its not much different to the 1694, which I can't get anyway.

Is dual channel memory worth it?
    *googles some benchmarks*

    EDIT:

Due to the different voltages at DDR and DDR2, it would appear to be even more critical to find out what it has in the notebook, so how would I be able to tell what memory it is when i get it?

DDR2 would seem more power efficent due to the lower voltage. True?
