I just bought this new sleek machine today, and I have a couple random questions that I need answered:

    1) I tried to activate the Bluetooth wireless optical mouse, but for some reason - it never worked. When I tried to locate it, it told me it had found it but the cursor on the screen never worked with the mouse. Maybe this has something to do with that password it asks you to use when activating a new bluetooth device - cause I couldnt find one for my mouse! If any of you know what the problem may be...please let me know.

    2) In what order to I install all the software I recieved with the laptop. I got 4 CD's in total: 1 System CD Rev 2.0, 2 Recovery CD's and 1 Norton AntiVirus CD. Is is necessary to use the Recovery CD's and the System CD Rev 2.0.....what exactly do they all for you that is important?

    3) How long does it take to charge the battery for the laptop? Does it do it automatically when it is connected to an AC power supply? Is it necessary to use the entire battery life up before you recharge it again, or can it always recharge at different times during its lifespan?

    4) Would you recommend the optional items: Acer ezDock, additional battery pack and additional AC adapter? Would these items come in handy later on...or do you really only need one?

    5) Would you recommend an extended warranty...more than 1 year?

    6) Is is possible to have an extra battery that can be charging up while you are using the other one, so that when one is dead - you can switch them up?

    7) How long does it take for the battery to charge up if it is all used up? (need to know because if I use it for 3 hour classes, then I can take it back to my dorm room and charge it up before I need to use the battery again)

    8) How do you get rid of that annoying Ferrari noise when the laptop boots up?

Sorry for all these questions, but I just want to get them out of the way so I dont have to worry about them anymore. Thanks alot!

    Hi toittoiger:

just recieved my ferrari (laptop) yesterday. I think I can give you some help, though not much. With the bluetooth mouse, try deactivating the password. That´s the way it worked for me. Anyway, buy yourself any other mouse, the ferrari one is not up to the cuality of the laptop.

Yes, I would recomend an extended warranty, with an item of this value.

I only installed the antivirus, the rest I think you can pass on. But I´m looking forward to install WXP64 in a few days, so maybe that´s why I´m not messing around with the rest.

The battery charges even if you are using the laptop, although slower. I haven´t seen anything about having to use the entire battery life up before you recharge it again anywhere in this forum.

    Dió!

WXP64...what is the 64 mean? I bought mine and it already had Windows XP pro installed so I didnt have to do any of that. What is the purpose of those recovery discs then...the first time I booted up my laptop, it told me to burn something onto them - and Im not sure what they mean.

You turn off the startup race car sound by going to the Sounds in Control Panel and choosing your options there.

Windows XP x64 is a 64-bit version of XP for certain 64-bit extended systems (the Turion is one). However, at this point I'd advise against getting it - you'd pay more for mixed performance results (sometimes slightly faster, other times slightly slower) and, most importantly, lots of potential compatibility problems. To quote winsupersite.com:

'For now, Microsoft can talk up the technical superiority of XP x64 all it wants, but compatibility issues are going to sink this operating system faster than you can say Microsoft Bob. There is little doubt that x64 is the future of desktop computing, but attempting to move to XP x64 will prove to be a fruitless trip for many people. To its credit, the software giant is being very clear about the near niche nature of its first x64-based desktop operating system, and the company has repeatedly told me that XP x64 is really just aimed at technical workstations, business desktop users, and enthusiasts.'
