Regarding the Acer 1410, what are people's opinions about purchasing the extended warranty. I'm wondering how much trouble people are having with these machines and if it's worth getting an extended warranty on a sub$500 device like this.
2nd. Is there a guide to which crapware to remove on the 1410?
Does it come loaded with junk? Is it best to do a clean install instead?
Thanks

Honestly, the build quality is decent for the price.
the only thing i expect to fail are the HDD and the notebooks power socket (i fix computers, and acer is notorious for the plugs breaking)
On the upside, it only costs 50 bucks to have it resoldered. -
I have a question as well for the 1410/1810... Is this computer's memory expanded to 8GB of RAM if I wanted.
Thanks. -
I did not take the extended warranty for 2 reasons. First, I bought this Acer as a travel unit to take everywhere and not worry if I drop it on its head. Second, I don't think its worth pouring a lot of money in this inexpensive unit. I paid $385 for the SU2300/64bit version with Bing Cash Back. I have put bluetooth in it ($22) and, if the HD fails, I will drop in a $100 30GB SSD. Other than a $12 sleeve, I am spending nothing else on this unit.
Clean install is probably best but removal of the crapware seems to do a nice job as well. I've done both and the difference in performance is minimal for me. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are doing a clean install.
