Hi, I've run into fan problems much like mention in this post
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=15707&highlight=aspire+2012
I've been using a heat pad (the usb pad with fans on it) to try to keep it cooler, but the noise from the laptop's fan is quite ridiculously loud (louder than my desktop when it really gets going). Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to open up my laptop and replace it with a quieter fan? I've tried looking around on google for an answer but haven't had much luck so I thought I'd try out here.
Thanks

have you tried Undervolting? ..I used Centrino hadware control software on my Acer Aspire 2001. I rarely hear the fan turn on.

Wow, that program you suggested is fantastic. I've noticed the difference just by lowering the voltage to the suggested amount (by 0.2). Is there any chance of damaging my chip if I lower the voltage too much? Or will I just experience my laptop crashing?

if it is too low, it will just crash but you will not damage the chip.
there is more information about it it on this thread
