SiSoft Sandra reported 2gb of system ram; 4 x 512mb ddr2. but shipping slip indicated 2 x 1gb ddr2. what's going on? i got 2gb total which is expected, but was hoping to add 2 x 1gb as an upgrade to get 4gb. now i will have to buy 4 x 1gb instead of 2. sucks.

Assuming you are talking about an 8200, then I don't believe it has 4x512 because it only has 2 slots for RAM (I believe, I've never bothered to check) but ... I've had a number of laptops and if this one does have 4x512 this will be the first, because I've not seen another laptop with 4 slots before.

Unfortunately to get 4GB I believe you need to buy 2x2GB.

I've never heard of a laptop with four memory slots. 4gb laptops are just now making their way to the market.

This is what acer supports in the 8200.

256/512 MB or 1 GB of DDR2 533/667 MHz memory,
upgradeable to 2 GB using two soDIMM modules (dualchannel
    support)

 Hi guys, sorry for my stupid question. I got 8204 from Singapore, actually Asian version gives only 1 gb RAm. I got extra GB from the vendor, but I dont know whether that is 533/667. How to find out? And is there any significant diffrenent between them?

find cpu-z or Everest. they will tell you what memory you have and speed correctly
