My dads got an old Acer travelmate 4001LCi Centrino with 256MB RAM installed. RAM is DDR333 and I tried installing an extra stick of 512MB DDR400 Twinmos but the laptop didnt like it (powered up, screen was blank, didnt do anything). does it specifically need DDR333 or the DDR400 be able to just adjust to DDR333 specs? Or could it be a compatibility issue cuz we dont have DDR333 here anymore only DDR400![]()

Normally DDR 333 will work, however, sometimes the motherboard doesn't recognise it from th start, so it can never downclock the RAM to the appropriate speed. The best thing to do, is to purchase some DDR 333, and sell the DDR 400 you have at the moment. Hope this helps.

According to Crucial, it is not compatible with DDR 400. So thats why your notebook isnt taking the memory.

Be sure to check the specs before ordering. -
Will any of this memory work with my Aspire 5024wlmi:

The official Kingston ram (KAC-MEMC/1G) for my notebook costs almost twice as much! -
According to Crucial, the second one is not compatible. The first one is.
