I posted a random beep problem on my son's acer travelmate 2420 last sept. This sounded like a 1 second system beep. After many hours trying to isolate the problem -software or hardware- it turned out to be the hard drive. Hard drives aren't suppose to beep. The hard drive is Hitachi model HTS541060G9AT00. I'm now using it as a usb hard drive and it is working fine and it was working fine in the laptop but the beep was just too annoying. I now have a Toshiba hard drive in the laptop and has been quiet for several months now. Go figure heh. Any comments?
