What would be the expected real world battery life with web, intel hd graphics, wifi, office running?

I picked up the i3 version, but I'd be surprised if the similarly clocked cpus really differ much in battery drain - especially in use like you specify where the cpu won't often run full speed anyway. My i3 is typically running at ~1.2ghz with light use.

For the i3, with wifi & bt on, 40% brightness (still quite bright, the display is impressive) mild app & web use Windows has been showing me estimates that range between about 5 hours and 8.5 hours for a full charge. Practically, I haven't had it plugged in since saturday morning, and i've had it on for 5-6 hours total and right now it's showing 24% remaining (2hr1min estimate). That even included 10-15 minutes of the gpu on with a dx11 tech demo that was really exercising the battery.

    Hope that's helpful.

I'm not sure about the battery button - I've just left the button on, so those numbers are all with it enabled. There is a popup about it turning off the dvd which I believe is related to the button, other than that I'm not sure what it's doing. I picked up the laptop on friday so I haven't had a lot of time with it yet.

For heating, under typical usage it's been running quite cool. ~30's idle/low use, +10C if the gpu is turned on, ~50-60s during typical gaming. (all cpu measurements). The exhaust doesn't seem overly hot, nor anywhere on the machine.

Stressing it is a different story though - 80c with prime95 and the gpu on. Add the heaven dx11 benchmark running along with prime95 and It got to 86c max - when it hit that level it would throttle the cpu to 900mhz and drop down to the 70s immediately, unthrottle and then build back up and do it all again. I have mixed feelings about that - at least it isn't turning off like the one in the video did, and I can't get anywhere close to it with real world loads so far. But the fact that they presumably felt they needed to update the bios to throttle 4-5c below TDJ does pretty much validate that the cooling issues aren't just a fluke or poor heatsink transfer.

I was thinking about returning my toshiba m645 and getting the acer 4820tg 3195. What i like is that it is slimmer and lighter than my m645 but gets similiar battery life with a smaller battery. I suspect this is due to the 5400 rpm drive vs 7200 drive in the m645.

So with normal usage heat is not a problem? from what i have seen heat seems to be the biggest complaint against the timelinex.

How is the KB flex Btw?
