    hi guys,

i've tried to do set my laptop back to factory setting but encounter problem.
<Alt><F10> doesn't work. Cannot make new recovery cd. old recovery doesn't work. encounter all this problem while doing recovery after i've just did some spyware removal.

i restart my laptop and windows do some checking and report bad cluster, and check on free space too. all this process take more than 6 hours. maybe because my old recovery Ist cd was in the cd drive while i restart. forgot to get it out.

is there any other way to do the recovery? is the hidden partition that store recovery files still work?

    thanks for trying to help.

If Windows is reporting a bad cluster, it's probably not the recovery CD that isn't working. It sounds more like your hard drive may be bad. If you have a little money to throw around, I recommend SpinRite to try to repair the drive. SpinRite is an awe-inspiring hard disk repair utility that has saved the data on more than one hard drive for me, but it does cost $89 US. If you're interested, you can buy it at:

Otherwise, I would suggest trying a new hard drive.
