Okay guys I solved the problem with the XP downgrade, i just went to buy another copy, so i can downgrade from vista to XP. but i have some concerns

    1. If i downgrade to XP will everything work correctly? i have downloaded all the xp drivers off the site

    2. Will i be able to get to vista back? and if so how?

    3. What will i have to know for it to run smoothly or something, vista runs good right now but i just want to format it back to xp

The xp is legit and im not doing illegal.

Also anything i need to know first before downgrading?

    Thanks

We don't support any kind of illegal activities of any kind on the forums. Under normal conditions XP is not downloaded it is bought in a store(vista can be downloaded from Microsoft not XP). If you bought XP in a store you would have no problem installing windows XP. Your notebook came with a license for vista and you said nothing about having an XP license so anyone seeing that will think you are attempting to steal the OS.

For that reason alone no one is probably not going to help you...

Check the Boot order of your devices(Hard drive/CD/FloppY)in the BIOS(i think F2 gets you into the BIOS). CD/DVD should be selected to boot first.

If the HD is SATA that could be the problem.

My brother just bought a 6291 and tried to format with XP but could not as it (the XP) did not have SATA drivers.

once again another post about someone who has no clue how to downgrade / install xp asking for help on something they should not be doing or @ least paying someone else to do.

Not to be harsh but lets look @ the facts.

#1. you broke the law if you downloaded a copy of xp off the net

#2. Your model of laptop might not even support all drivers for xp if you downgrade it

#3. you probably didn't do a full backup of your hard drive or make repair disks or know how to restore vista if and when you sell the laptop or decide to switch back

need I continue? The hard fact of the matter is you need to know what you are doing b4 you do it, and even then I suggest you don't.

But hey what do I know.

You could aslo disabling "AHCI" in the BIOS. It should allow the XP installion to go through without the SATA drivers.
