    Hi,

I am currently helping a friend to reformat his brand new laptop, in order to "get it all right" from the start.

Although, when using a boot DVD the laptop doesn't recognize it and starts up Windows anyways, even though we changed the boot properties in it's BIOS.

I have read on some forums that Acer uses some dodgy Norton Ghost software to prevent people from reformatting their PCs which has of course baffled me a bit.

Has anyone here a clue how to work around this? I mean, there must be a way of reformatting a PC?

    Thanks for your time,

    /Chris the Swede

if you have the boot setings in the bios correctly it has to boot from a cd or dvd, unless that dvd or cd is not bootable, make sure the media you are using is bootable and readable by the drive, try using another type of media eg a different brand.

The boot media is working and has been used before on other PCs. The boot settings in the BIOS is also correctly set.

Although, I will try another boot media. Thanks for the tip!
