Hi - I'm in great need of a new laptop - and there's this refurb Ferrari 4006 for sale locally (warranty to March 2008). I could probably get it for around 1000 euros (but no VAT for my company to take advantage of since the seller is a person).
Previously I've had HPs, of the "boring", business-notebook variety.
But now for my next lap-baby (yes, I use it on my lap almost exclusively), I've decided that I need something with a bit more kick, especially in the graphics department.
Please any Ferrari 4000 -users: the bad things about your pretty machines?
I'm not planning on ever using Vista, if I can avoid it. The things I would like to do, where my hp/compaq old ultralight nc4000 is getting more and more frustrating, are:
Simultaneously running eMule constantly in the background, surfing with 30+tabs open in Firefox or Opera (or both at the same time), playing around with a few pics in Photoshop or gimp, setting the margins straight in InDesign, reading mail (and being able to open nasty office-attachments without closing some other app!), working in word/excel or/and Open Office. Watching movies (I think I could close the graphic apps while I do that).
The most important things for me, that I can think of without having more than fingered any of the Ferraris are
1. that the speakers are loud and clear enough for catching dialogue in TV shows etc
2. that the processor is step-able, ie that I can make the machine run slow, cool and quiet. And I'd prefer if it didn't get hot enough to leave burns (through clothing) even when under load.
Refurb Ferrari 4006 WMLi - worth buying?
