I have a travelmate 5720g, which there is a mxmII slot that looks like it is possible to remove the current hd2600 and replace another one.
I have been searching around about graphics card upgrade on acer laptops, there are cases where people have upgraded from nvidia to ati and ati to nvidia sucessfully without problems.
Does that really mean as long as the mxm slot is capable of installing the graphics card, and upgraded your bios to the lastest version then it is just PLUG AND PLAY ??

thanks and forgive me about my poor english :p

Hi benjaminchan, and welcome to NBR!
Please check the stickies before posting - the Ultimate Acer Resource thread has a link to a topic dedicated solely to Acer and MXM upgrades.
As for your question, it depends. Certain models are sticklers for what MXM cards they will accept, largely through video BIOS incompatibility and system BIOS whitelisting.
The only way to know for sure if it works is for someone else to have done the upgrade, or to do it yourself.

I have been reading that post, but all i have seen so far is that if u buy a graphics card with acer video bios with latest system bios, the chances are: PLUG AND PLAY.
However, if the system bios does not support the graphics card, people try to alter it with some software, is that really possible ??

Modifying the system BIOS is possible, but it's incredibly difficult and very risky. Do it wrong, and your system gets irreparably bricked.
Stick with what people are having success with - the 8600M GT/9500M GS seems to be the most prevalent and compatible, but it may not be that big of a jump from your Radeon HD 2600. The Radeon HD 3650 is also rather compatible, but you should get the 256MB GDDR3 for a real boost of speed.
