Hey guys and gals, Alright so I'll be soon installing a new processor in my acer laptop and I have been told I would have to reinstall windows vista.
Now after i reinstall windows will I still have acer's factory defaults? What I mean is that if i start windows fresh will it be the same as when i just bought my laptop or do i have to create a factory default disc in order for certain acer applications to work. Sorry if i sound as a noob, because basically i am.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also I decided that I'll be putting in a new hard drive as well. So how do i go about installing acer's factory defaults and applications on a new hard drive? Will the ALT+F10 function still work if i created the factory default disc? So basically what I want to know is that after installing a new hard drive and cpu, what must i do in order for me to get the laptop to the same way as if just bought it?

You should not have to re-install vista (or any other OS) after a cpu upgrade. I have done many cpu upgrades and have never needed to re-install an OS. Confirm you have the latest BIOS, and drop the new cpu in. Don't forget to apply alittle thermal paste.

If you use the Backup DVD (you created one right?), it will recover you laptop to the factory settings.

I have read in other threads, that the Backup DVD will place the factory image onto the new HD, so you will be back to the factory settings. I have yet to do this myself, but it has been posted by others who have.
