Does anyone know how? or know of a guide to doing so? My girlfriend spilled a soda on her laptop and is frantic. Hopefully I can pull the keyboard and let it dry out and get it working for her?

I don't have the repair guide but keyboard is usually easy to remove. You will probably looking at a new keyboard however since the keys will be sticky. A new one should cost less than $20 off eBay.

I do not doubt the possibility of buying a new one, but I'd like to know how to pull the old one first, before bothering with ordering a new one... preferably with removing as few screws as possible.

Turn your laptop upside down and see if there are ny screws with keyboard mark at the side.

There's no nice way of doing this. There are 6 latches on top of the keyboard you have to unlock (I assume pry open) and then pull the the keyboard up.
Details can be found in a service manual for Aspire 5741. It looks like it's almost identical apart from the size in the same way 5740 & 7740 were.

Service manual for 7741 is not available online but one for 5741 can be found (although can't be shared here).
