    Replace ACER ASPIRE 5742Z screen with 1080p one?

    hi guys! a friend of mine has this laptop and his screen is 1336x768,i have a spare auo b156hw01 screen that is 1080p with 40pin connector like his old one.if we change it the 1080p will work?thx!

    It's extremely unlikely- except for a few units Acer doesn't use dual LVDS in 15" notebooks.

    Connector will be the same, the cable will only have half the wires but even if you replace it with a cable that has all the wires with inly single LVDS supported you won't get any results (every second line will be visible).

    Still- since you have the screen you might as well test it. Worst case scenario is a waisted hour of your life and no results.
