    Hello,
I have almost the same problem of this topic:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/436706-acert-3810t-trackpad-suddenly-not-working.html
Unfortunately that topic is old and closed so I have no way to ask if and how he solved.
Anyway, after trying different drivers on different OS I am convinced it is a hardware failure.

So, how can I fix it?

I looked through this service manual but unfortunately it doesn't explain nothing about the touchpad hardware.

I found this part Acer Aspire 3810T Touchpad Board but I'm not sure if it is the right part to replace or if it could be replaced at all.

    Any experience on that?

    Thanks very much

boot into linux to make sure it is a hardware problem. If it works in linux then something is wrong in windows. After you confirmed it is a hardware problem, open the laptop and unplug the touchpad then put it back, sometimes it could fix the problem, and also check for the model number of the touchpad. You don't really need a service manual for this.

I'll try to boot with a live linux distro.
I tried Ubuntu 11.10 last year (I have this problem from a long time) and it wasn't working very good but maybe I had to configure something.
Ubuntu (12.04 or 12.10) should recognize the trackpad out-of-the-box?

Anyway it's a good idea to open the laptop and check for the model numer.

    Thanks.
