I am considering a TM8204, but I'd like to replace the HDD with a 80GB SATA 7200rpm drive. Is this possible or easy to do on the 8204? I don't know if there is easy access to the drive, and I don't know how DASP+ works or if it will work with a Hitachi drive. Also, I'm not sure how to clone the drive. Any suggestions?

After further thought, I will probably capture video onto an external firewire drive, so that alleviates the NEED to replace the internal HDD. However, I would still like to know how to do this for future reference. Thanks.

Should be do-able although I've not looked yet.

For video capture so far I've found the 5400rpm drive in the 8204 to be more than upto the job, I captured an hours worth of video from mini-DV through firewire with 0 frames dropped.

Of course if you are using HD then that might make the 5400rpm drive not upto it.

Hrmmm.. My 8204 has a "warranty void if removed" sticker strategically positioned so opening the HDD cover would destroy it - did yours not?
