isn't it a pity when we wish for more functionality, we never think to go to the people that can help most (the manufacturers).

I want the record button to open Nero most of all. The other buttons are fine.

    Easy peasy! ;)

Heres how to program the ACER MEDIA Rec key.

Go in regedit you need to go to the key shown:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings\Buttons\Rec]

    Change
    "Command Type"="0"

    to
    "Command Type"="1"

    then go
    [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1209230673-3910010441-3809939662-1000\Software\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings\"YOURUSERNAME"\Buttons\Rec]
"Command"="PROGRAM YOU WANT TO RUN EG C:\Windows\Paint.exe"

You will need to make the keys if you dont have them.

    So,

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1209230673-3910010441-3809939662-1000\Software\Quanta\QtZgAcer\Settings

is where you should go to start entering the keys.

You can change all the keys but i'm too lazy to even bother lol.

I use iTunes and found that the keys dont work when the program is in the background so I installed a scripts program from http://www.maximized.com/freeware/ScriptsForiTunes/ and assigned the reg keys to the buttons. Only problem is I cant use those buttons for anything apart from itunes now!!

BTW i think theres a help me file on the programs website which can help you do reg editing

    again. uninstall acer framework.
open winamp or similar mediaplayer with "global hotkeys" feature.
activate that feature. should work out of the box.
if not, configure global hotkeys: click "play/pause", so it expects you to press your desired key-combination, press the play-button on your laptop. should recognise it as "media: play".
go on for stop, prev, and next.

Any idea if its possible to reprogram other Fxx buttons other than default?
F9 and F10 are empty and I'd like to assign network profiles and power plan's to them.

    Any help appreciated.

I think there are some programs that work between the keyboard and all the other programs, grabbing "global hotkeys". you can configure each to do something super I believe. Depending on the program, there might even be power-management and stuff.... google please I dont have time and post it here :D
