Hello everyone. I was hoping someone can help me with a little problem I have.
I just bought the Acer Aspire 8920G Notebook, the one with the T5750 Processor, with a nvidia 9500m GS graphics card..
I installed everything without a problem, all the drivers and such. As I attempted to change the resolution of the screen to HD - 1920 x 1080, but I could not do it. The highest it goes is 1680 x 945. I was wondering how I can switch it to 1080 resolution.
I also tried doing a custom resolution change in the nvidia control panel, not to sure if I got the settings right though.
So if anyone can help it would be much appropriated.
Thanks
Vuki

depending on what RESOLUTION your LCD screen supports,, you may not be able to display a resolution that high
check the SPEC sticker under you right palm.. what does it say about your display?? if you don't have WUXGA support you can't display that high of a picture
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_display_standard
see that link for more info -
The specs it comes with says it has the WUXGA support, and also right on the laptop, the spec sticker it says "Full HD 1080"
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10107471&catid=25254&logon=&langid=EN
That is the exact model I bought. -
maybe you need to change the monitor type in Windows so you can set it at that resolution? are you running vista or XP?
-
How do I change the monitor type?
I am using Vista Home Premium. -
have you checked acer euro support site since they tend to have the newest drivers available..
but according to the BB site you linked... the NATIVE RESOLUTION should be 1920X1080...
so i'm not sure what to tell you... your hardware should defiantely support that resoultion.. infact it should always be in that resolution unless it were changed by you or some program??
i'm at a loss.... try upgrading the video drivers -
Thats what I thought as well, that it should always be in the resolution. I will try updating some drivers, if they need it, and if it still dose not work bring it back to Best Buy then.
Thanks for trying to help. -
I'm having the same issue, having just bought one about 35 hours ago. Only Acer drivers can be used, and there isn't one available from them to fix this. The ads, packaging, and manual all say WUXGA, and 1920 x 1080 (WUXGA IS 1920 X 1200, btw). I think bringing it back to Best Buy is a last resort, so I'm exploring other options. It's not only false advertising, it's the fact that there are layers of deception from Acer, and sellers seem duped as well (how can they not do a simple check like this on their items for sale...). I will bet the Better Business Bureau will be quite interested, among others.

Btw, Best Buy removed this one from their site last night, and replaced it with a similar model for less $, the AS8920-6048 (we're discussing the AS8920G-6952). They no longer have the list of specs, which I will reproduce for our model as displayed on the Best Buy site, in my next post.

bigozone, thanks for the euro site, will check into that one - nothing useful for this issue was on their NA site. On mine, going to 'personalize' on background, and then 'display settings', the highest res available is as Vuki says, 1680 x 945.

see that link... seems like acer lied
time for a law suit -
I think if you get omega drivers or something you will be able to get the resolution to 1080p
-
What about visiting the acer website ( http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html) and downloading the latest display driver for your video card, that might just do it, worth a go...
Drivers get updated all the time, and once the machine is boxed and ready for sale it dont get updated again until the user updates it.........
