    Hi Everyone

I have an Acer 8204Wlmi and when I got it I did something stupid like deleting the backup image by deleting the partition. I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to upload an image of their hard drive so that I can resore my laptop to its original factory settings.

    Regards

Why not just use the Restore CD's/DVD that came with your laptop?

Did you create the restore CD/DVD?

If you did, then the hidden parition isn't actually required (nicolin, the restore image does NOT put the hidden partition back) all that it seems to have been used for was the create the backup CD's.

Now if you didn't make a restore CD then you'll need someone to give you a copy of it, uploading is going to be quite hard given that it's 5 CD's worth or 1 DVD, pretty large upload/download.

Arla, Restore partition = Restore CD's/DVD. I never said that the Restore CD's/DVD put back the hidden partition. ;)

Nicolin, What I was getting at, was that the question was to get the machine back to "factory fresh" settings, as such that includes the hidden partition, but the restore CD's/DVD will not get you to that position (sorry, maybe I was unclear).

Acer will send you a restore DVD (if I recall) for a not vast sum of money.

Why can't someone upload a windows xp home oem .iso ? Under fair use of the DMCA that is perfectly legal.

Each copy of windows has its own activation key code...........if the same copy is used on 2 seperate rigs.....someone will be accused of using a pirated copy of windows.
That is why each notebook has a windows sticker with its own individual code on it.

My Acer Aspire 5672 Wlmi came with TWO cd keys. One of them was from the sticker on the bottom, and the other was the restore partition. Not only do many laptops come with 2 keys but uploading the media is perfectly legal IF he has a copy of the exact same os. Keeping apples with apples it's just fine. Just keep the same media as the license and you're legit no matter where you go.

Go to a PC repair shop and ask for an OEM disk of home/pro . Call Acer for a disk / restore disks, or look around as well.

    Hmm.

Just called Acer support and they're charging 40GBP to restore the image to its original factory settings. While it's not too much, it does mean that I need to send my laptop to them which I would want to avoid. Anyone out there willing to send me a restore image / hard disk image?
