Have been trying to find the answer to this. Acer 9301 upgraded to Vista nearly two years ago. HDD split into two equal partitions C and D.
If you enable restore points on the C only why does the free space on the D partition come down ? The D partition is "unchecked" in system restore and starting from Zero restore points ( deleted with disk cleanup--more options ) each new one shows on the D drive as well as the C drive when you open system restore. The two seem inextricably linked. Even though it is unchecked it's as though you can't have one without the other. I use the D partition only for Acronis running backups.
