I recently took delivery of a Aspire 7735z and, after much hassle, wiped Vista and installed XP.

When I got the PC it had the small Vista backup partition and the main partition.

Now, I have a windows partition and extended data partition.

If I was to reinstall Vista from the backup discs, will this completely reset the machine to its original state, or just overwrite XP with Vista?

In a nutshell, I may return the machine but I can only do it if I can get it back to its original configuration.

    Thanks.

Hi, using the discs may not restore the hidden parttions but it might restore Vista to the factory default, it shouldn't effect any 'data' drives you might have...
