    Hi all:

I basically narrowed down my laptop choices to Acer Ferrari 3200 or Travelmate 8000. I am leaving towards the 8000 because of Pentium M and the ability to get a faster hard drive.

I however want to check the system out personally before buying it. The local comp stored do not seem to carry Acer. Any ideas where I can physically examine a system. I live in the DC metro area.

    Thanks.

I personally have not been able to find any walk-in Acer retailers but only online ones. Also, I would be more careful in hoping to find a faster HD in the TM8000 - sometimes the Acer site says it comes with a 5400 rpm HD but it is in fact a 4200rpm, a 7200 you can get only after your own configuration, if it is available at all.
If you like a Pentium M you might be interested in the Aspire 2025 which is cheaper than the TM8000 but has a way better screen and the battery life is still ~4, 4.5 hrs. It also coes with a 1.8Dothan and 128MB ATI 9700.
    Good luck.

Goto the below link. It's the Acer retailer search engine. Just select your state and you should be able to get a list of all the Authorized retailers in your area.

I am between the 2025 and the TM8006. The 8006 has the M2.0 while the 2025 has the M1.8. I am curious as to why you think the 15.4" screen on the 2025 is better. The 15" on the 8006 runs higher resolution. I also think the 8006 is lighter. Other than these items are there other features that make one more compelling over the other? Thanks for the feedback!
