I just replaced my Toshiba with a 8204. I ran 2 19" LCD's off the Toshiba plus the 15" screen on the laptop. One of the 19" monitors was run through a VT Book adapter in the card slot. Everything worked well, I just needed more processor speed and that's where the 8204 looked like the proper set-up. I loaded the latest VT Book driver from their website and the laptop does not recognize anything when the VT Book is in the card slot. I also have an EZ dock and it does not recognize it there either. I sent an e-mail to the VT Book tech dept last week, so far no luck.

Otherwise I am happy with the 8204. Any suggestions?

not sure why you need 2 screens but try the Acer Grid Vista and put it all on the same screen??? maybe it is windos too, try the Acer support and even Micrsoft

    good luck

Are you sure your PC Card slot is actually turned on/enabled? Use the Acer ePower utility to control it.

I puchased a Matrox Dual-Head-to-Go for just that purpose!!

At work I run my 8204 + 2 17" samsung LCD screens... Its pure bliss :)

Couple of things about the Dual-Head box though...

It only supports VGA (no DVI!), and it will only support up to 1280x1024 so if your 19" screens do more then that, its not really worth it.

Also, if you look, matrox doesn't actually support the 8204 so far, but i've been using it for a few months now, and its perfect. No problems what so ever.

I love it! Having 3 screens worth of desktop space kicks ass for working!!!

Also, they have a Triple-Head-to-Go out as well!!! 4 screens!!!!!! hehehe

Thanks for the information... I checked the card to make sure it worked. I used an adapter with a CF card to download some photos without any problem. I also have a 19" monitor that has DVI, I tried using that through the VT Book card, no luck, I also tried running the DVI and regular monitor out through the EZ Dock, only 1 monitor is recognized through the system.

I run Autocad, large excel files and several admin web sessions all of the time. Once you have 2 19" screens plus the laptop screen, it is hard to go with less. The Acer Grid Vista is nice when just using the laptop at home (even though I also run an additional flat screen at home...), hey, I'm spoiled and I just want to get my screens back...

(What I really want is a wider monitor with more resolution... I'll work that into the budget later...)

if your 19"'s run 1280x1024 the matrox box is definately the way to go then!!

My dual 17" samsungs run 1280 native, so its perfect! And i agree its difficult to do without multiple screens!!

I have a the dell 20" wide screen lcd at home and while its super nice, a second one would be simply amazing :)

The USB hub died in my 20" last week actually... I called dell on a monday morning, tuesday afternoon a new monitor showed up at my office. AMAZING customer service!!

So i ran dual 20" screen's at home for a week before shipping back the one with the fried usb hub. Dual widescreen 20's are heaven :)
