    hello

i wiped all the acer refuse off of my machine when i upgraded to 'vista business' from 'home premium'... basically i started afresh with a format.

since the upgrade the sound quality(the only media i use my laptop for is watching films) from my headphone jack is appalling! it has no bass to speak of and everything sounds as though i'm listening to something a great distance away with a tin can pressed to my ear.

i have the latest 'realtek HD audio driver' installed which is what i had when i was running 'home premium'. i have tinkered with the 'realtek audio manager' until the cows come home and nothing goes anyway to improving the sound quality.
also i downloaded the 'SRS audio sandbox' but this has only a very minimal effect, barely noticable.

additionally, everything is "working" and "enabled".

any ideas on where i should go from here?

    peace.
