Hey guys, I was just wondering what would be considered a safe temp for the i5 2410M that comes with the 5750G. I've been monitoring it lately and Guild Wars 2 tends to push it up to around 90 C (and this is while using ThrottleStop to lower the multiplier to 20 and thus disable TurboBoost). I've been meticulous with compressed air. I would replace the grease on the CPU with some Arctic Silver 5, but it looks pretty complex to do so on this model. I'm using the laptop on a desk, not my lap or a pillow :) Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm using the latest BIOS version 1.20

90c is fine. I wouldn't want to see it go past 95c though.

So I asked Acer for help and this is the response I got...

"Thank you for contacting Acer America. My name is Jeremy, badge number 25627. I'll be happy to assist you.
I do apologize that you system is reaching a high temp while running the software.
I am unable to advise on how to lower the CPU temperature or the difficulty for installing thermal paste.
We do have a group that may be able to help you. Answers by Acer, and here is a link to their contact information = https://support.acer.com/answers.aspx"

I asked Acer for help with this and they directed me to a pay-for-support plan! $20 for help with a SINGLE issue. I've done some research and it looks like Acer is notorious for poor cooling solutions on their laptops. How ridiculous is this?

Never had any problems with high temps in a properly cleaned aspire 6920g with a WAYYYYY overclocked nvidia 9600m gt. My video card temps alone don't go over 72c (in the summer without A/C) now with my new card, and my cpu stays under 65c

I would advise you to clean the dust from your heatsink fins and repaste with IC diamond thermal paste.

90c is a bit warm. You need to open the bottom of the case, and get to those fans with your compressed air! Make sure they are spinning when your system is running. You can also download some programs that allow you to manually run the fans.. RivaTuner is popular for nVidia cards, Sapphire Trixx is what I use on my 7670m AMD card.

Repasting would probably really help too. You might be able to find some video How-To videos online. The factory paste that is used is usually pretty lousy, and sometimes really poorly put on.

check your cpu temp on idle because I was experience something similar with 5750g which i own but i have core i7 and on idle i was on 87c sometimes that was because my fan was not kicking in on idle or normal surfing etc... should be 40's and 50's c and gaming highest had was 90c to 100c because again fan was not working till had mess with fan inside and gotta jump start again. it was weird. on gaming usually between 70c and 80c with fan running.
