I recently had a small flood in my basement. While my laptop didnt get wet the power adapter did. It stopped working as there was water dripping out of the adapter. I purchased a IGO adapter from Radio Shack. I tried it in the store on my laptop and it worked fine. I got it home and it was a different story. The unit kept turning itself on and off and i kept having to jiggle it to work. Finally I decided to return the adapter and buy another one. I purchased a 90 watt adapter from Best Buy. Now the machine doesnt do anything. Nothing happens, no blue light or anything. HELP!!!

    Hi

The AC adapter(s) match all with the original one?Watt, Voltage, Amperage? Does the laptop run on battery? Have you tried to pull out the battery and try the adapters? When you said that the machine doesn't respond in any way, you meant with the second adapter only or with both?

The adapter is a Targus. The input matches 100-240V. The Acer adapter out put is 19V, but the Targus is 15V-24V. The battery died earlier today. I took it out and put it back in but nothing. The blue light on the on/off switch doesnt light up or anything.

Yeah problem solved. Not in the best way though, @andyasselin's suggestion was better. There is a chance you motherboard get fried because of wrong voltage/amperage.

The major issue with other power adapters , are that the DC plug has wrong size , DC contact becomes flimsy .

Its advisable to use if possible the cable of the original DC power adapter.
even if you have to cut and reconnect the cable to the new one .
