I just noticed it now. It's very visible on a black backgorund. It's qite long. I've no idea how it got there, I guess from excesive cleaning on the screen.

    What can I do?

Also I seem to be unable to keep the screen clean, at all. Screenwipes just leve residue.

Don't know how to remove the scratch, but you should clean the screen with those lens/specs wipes which have ethanol in 'em, since they evaporate pretty quick. They don't leave any residue on my screen.

i've had my laptop for over 9 months... and live in a dusty environment due to dirt/gravel roads ect... and i have only cleaned my screen 3 times....

a LCD is not a window:: it will attract dust and your best bet is to deal w/ a little dust/dirt.... and clean it gentlely and sparringly using a MICROFIBER CLOTH (like the eyedoctor gives w/ glasses),, a personally use a 50/50% mixture of water and cheap clear rubbing alcohol....

you can buy all those fancy cleaners but check their ingredients.... they are nothing more that alcohol and water, with a few other chemicals tossed in to make the consumer think it's something special!!!

    Hi Kittie

I am trying to help here so please don't take this up the wrong way

The thing is as bigO said, a lappy screen is not a mirror. My environment is also really dusty....I habitually clean my screen once a month only with liquid cleaning stuff made for the job.

However, what I regularly (once every 2 days or so do) is to take a soft....and I mean really soft dry virgin paintbrush (never seen paint before) and just lightly dust the screen of excess dust.

What I do before the monthly clean is to use the same soft dry painbrush before I apply any wet cleaning method. Simply because lots of dust and liquid end up in mud. And you dont want to battle with that on the screen. Scratches will then happen.

Another thing: Lappie screens are hard to clean. If you have long fingernails(like lots of girls out there) or are wearing any rings on your fingers, it is very possible to scratch the screen without knowing it whilst cleaning with the liquid mixture.

Anyways, in spite of my dusty work environment - but practicing the help or info above I am happy to say my screen has zero, and I mean zero scratches. It is like the day I bought the lappie. Bright and clear :)

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Theo

It could have been my nails :(

This is terrible for me because I had to get his laptop to begin with because the screen on my last one was ruined.

If I send it back to Acer within Warranty will they fix it?

Sad news is, Acer will probably say no. Scratches are the users problem/fault.

So it will probably be at your own cost.

I suggest, use this lappie as is. (If you can live with it.)

And when you buy a new one, follow my guide and always remove rings and be especially aware of long nails. The screens scratch very easily.

But with proper care - they will last a long time. In spite of hectic operating conditions. The right cleaning procedure is the key.

    Just a thought

    Cheers,
    Theo

    Well i have a proposition ....

I am motorcyclist in my heart and soul , for over 25 years . :D

The helmet (glass) or the plastic front windshield, gets injured from time to time , by small stones and other reasons .
And the best cure so far , are this scratch remover.

    http://dhost.info/ax1/html/ax-1_f_a_q__.html#Acrylic

I had not tested the product on my laptop yet , but i would , if i had the problem.

I had cure with it , my motorcycle , many times . :)

I'm wondering if the 6920 has an Acrylic or Glossy screne or what. There are all kinds of anti-scratch solutions.

i would be very careful using anything on an LCD SCREEN....

and try it in a test location where it is hard to notice, just incase it were to do some damage to the think glossy coating..

i'd hate to read about you having a large white damaged area because you were trying to fix a small scratch

I was waiting on purpose 20 hours or so , before i reply .
I was waiting to see the public reactions about the above statement.

The fear factor , its not a golden advice .

We have a problem , we have many solutions , the above product are the number One , speaking about quality .

And the only that i have to say are , if some one does not know how something acrylic looks like , his best bet are to pay 140$ for a new screen.

before i paid $140 for a new screen i'd try a test spot in say the bottom right corner where not much clicking is required...

just a VERY LIGHT amount to see if it is gonna work great... or be a screen fogger...

do a search for RAINX LCD LAPTOP SCREEN.... that will give you an idea what some chemicals can do to your LCD
