Hey guys, I have a Aspire 3680.. and today I noticed this :

I'm sorry for the quality of the pics, as they are from my cell phone.

Last I checked, there are no infestation problems with my house and I haven't traveled with this (always been on desk - also no lamps or anything near it for it to be smacked by). The 'ripples' are making me believe something happened temperature wise internally. Also, I'm assuming this is recent because I'm sure I would have recognized that an entire corner of my laptop was gone. Lol.

Any advice? I still have Acer 1 Year Warranty, though I'll have to read up on it if it covers stuff like this.

Did this damage occur over a long period of time, or did you just notice it today? It looks like somebody bit your laptop...

Try to locate the heat source; it could be the screen, but most laptops also have wireless antennae that run up to the top of the screen for improved signal reception.

umm i don't think even a small lighter can melt tip of your lid like that.. not unless you hold it for a good 30 mins.

If this happened suddenly (not over time), you might want to have a chat with your children or anyone else who has access to your laptop. It looks like it has been damaged by someone.
